# Archiving deals

> Move completed or inactive deals out of your active view without losing any data.

Archiving keeps your dashboard focused on active transactions while preserving everything about a completed deal.

## How to archive a deal

### From the dashboard

1. Click three dots icon on the top right of any deal card
2. Select **Archived**

### From the deal page

1. Open the deal
2. Use the status selector in the deal data dashboard and select **Archived**
3. Click save on the top right corner

### From e-mail or Homie chat

Ask: *"Archive this deal"*

## What archiving does

* The deal moves out of your **Active** filter view
* All documents, data, and chat history are preserved
* You can still find the deal using the **Archived** or **All** filter
* You can still open and view everything inside the deal

Archiving does not delete anything. It's a status change, not a removal.

## Restoring an archived deal

If you need to bring a deal back to active status:

1. Find it using the **Archived** or **All** filter
2. Open the deal or use the menu
3. Change the status back to **Pre-Contract** or **Under Contract**

## When to archive vs. cancel

| Use Archive when... | Use Cancel when... |
| ------------------------------- | ------------------------------------ |
| The deal closed successfully | The deal fell through |
| You want to keep it for records | The transaction was terminated |
| The transaction is complete | You need to indicate it didn't close |

**Both statuses preserve all data.** The difference is what they communicate about the outcome of the transaction.
