# Deal types

> Understand the five transaction types in Oun and when to use each one.

When you create a deal, you choose a type that determines what data fields, document templates, and SkySlope integration options are available.

## Purchase

For buy-side transactions where you represent the buyer. Includes fields for:

* Buyer and seller contacts
* Contract price and earnest money
* Closing date and contingency deadlines
* Listing and selling agent info
* MLS number and listing details

<Info>
  If you have SkySlope connected, purchase deals can be linked to SkySlope transactions.
</Info>

## Listing for Sale

For sell-side transactions where you represent the seller. Includes fields for:

* Seller and listing agent contacts
* List price and listing dates
* MLS number and listing expiration
* Property details

Listing for Sale deals start in **Pre-Contract** status. When the listing goes under contract, Oun guides you through the listing-to-sale conversion (see below).

<Info>
  If you have SkySlope connected, these deals can be linked to SkySlope listings. Once under contract, you can change them to transactions.
</Info>

## Lease

For tenant-side transactions where you represent the tenant. Includes fields for:

* Landlord and tenant contacts
* Lease terms and rent amounts
* Move-in and move-out dates

## Listing for Lease

For landlord-side transactions where you represent the landlord. Includes fields for:

* Landlord and tenant contacts
* Listing dates and rent terms
* Property details

## Other

**For transactions that don't fit neatly into the above** — referrals, property management agreements, or anything else you need to track. **When you select Other, you'll also choose your agent role** (Buying Agent, Listing Agent, or Tenant Agent) **and broker role** so Homie knows how to address parties correctly.

## Changing deal types

Deal type is set when you create the deal. You can change the deal type in the **deal data** dashboard.
