Use Homie as your go-to to draft and edit documents, review content, and prepare documents for signing. You can always edit documents manually in the editor — you don’t have to go through Homie for every change.

Using Homie to fill fields

From email or the deal’s Homie chat, ask Homie to draft documents or edit fields without opening the editor:
  • “Draft a purchase agreement. Price is $540k, 10% down payment, rest is financed via a conventional loan at 5.75% for 30 years”
  • “Draft a listing packet for this deal based on my deal data”
  • “Set the buyer name on the purchase agreement to Jane Smith”
  • “Update the closing date to April 30 on the contract”
  • “Fill in the earnest money as $5,000”
Homie updates the document and syncs changes back to your deal data.

Using the editor

From your deal’s documents page, click on any document to open it in the PDF editor.

Filling fields

The editor detects fillable fields in your documents — text boxes, checkboxes, radio buttons, and more.
  1. Click on any field to select it
  2. Type or click on the field to select it
  3. Click Save to preserve your changes

Autofill from deal data

Use the Autofill button to populate as many fields as possible automatically. Autofill pulls from your deal data, looks up public property records and county data, applies your document preferences, and fills in standard market defaults for your state. It’s designed to get your document as complete as possible in one step — then you review and adjust.
Homie will not edit documents that were uploaded, signed, or are awaiting signatures.

Editing uploaded documents

For uploaded documents, the editor includes tools for annotating documents, including:

Markup tools

  • Strikethrough — draw lines through text to indicate deletions
  • Text box — add typed text anywhere on the page (great for filling blanks on uploaded forms)
Markups are saved with the document and permanently applied when you send for signatures. You can drag, resize, and edit markups after placing them.

Adding signatures

You can add all the necessary signature components:
  • Signature fields
  • Signature dates
  • Initials
