One of Homie’s most useful capabilities is creating and filling documents entirely through conversation. When drafting documents, Homie pulls from your deal data, looks up public property records and county data, and applies standard market defaults for your state — so your documents start as complete as possible.

Drafting a new document

Open the chat for your deal and ask Homie to create a document:
  • “Draft a purchase agreement”
  • “Create a disclosure form”
  • “Add a new addendum”
Homie selects the right template based on your deal’s state and creates the document. It appears in your deal’s documents list and as a downloadable file in the chat.

Available templates

Not sure what documents you can create? Ask: “What documents can I create?” Homie lists all available templates for your deal. The templates available depend on:
  • Your transaction state (e.g., Texas, Maryland)
  • Your deal type (purchase, listing, lease, etc.)
  • Your brokerage’s promulgator settings
Check your profile settings if templates seem missing — your state and promulgator need to be set correctly.

Filling fields through chat

After a document exists, you can ask Homie to fill in any fields: Single field:
“Set the buyer name to Jane Smith”
Multiple fields at once:
“Fill in the buyer as Jane Smith, the seller as Bob Wilson, and the contract price as $425,000”
Date fields:
“Update the closing date to April 30, 2025”
Contact info:
“Set the buyer’s email to jane@email.com and phone to 555-123-4567”
Homie normalizes values automatically — phone numbers get formatted, names get properly capitalized, and dates get standardized.

Draft and fill in one step

You can combine drafting and filling in a single request: “Draft a purchase agreement with the buyer as Jane Smith and the contract price at $350,000” Homie creates the document and fills in the fields you specified.

Reviewing what’s filled in

Ask Homie to tell you what’s currently in a document:
  • “What fields are filled in on the purchase agreement?”
  • “What’s the closing date in the contract?”
  • “Summarize the purchase agreement”

How field sync works

When Homie fills fields in a document, it syncs those values back to your deal data in the background (usually within 30-40 seconds). This means:
  • Fill the buyer name in a document → it updates in deal data
  • Other documents can then reference the same buyer name
  • Everything stays consistent across your deal
If you ask Homie to fill a field on a document that doesn’t exist yet, it will create the document first, then fill the field — no need to draft and fill in separate steps.
When Homie drafts a document, it applies standard defaults for your state (like common inspection periods, standard elections, and typical timelines). Always review drafted documents to make sure the defaults match your specific deal terms before sending for signatures.

Filling in the PDF editor

You can also fill documents directly in the PDF editor instead of through chat:
  1. Click the document to open it in the editor
  2. Click any field to enter values
  3. Save when done
The PDF editor and Homie chat work together — changes made in either place sync automatically.

FAQ

Each document type can only exist once per deal. If you need a second copy, archive the first one and draft a new one.
Template availability depends on your state and promulgator settings. Check your profile to make sure your state and promulgator are set correctly.
